Ever tasted Opera, a great French chocolate and coffee layered cake? Andrée Gravillon, the lady who found the name for this now classical French dessert, just died. Her husband invented the cake when he was working at DALLOYAU pâtisserie. She had just seen a Petit Rat de l'Opéra, a Ballerina from l'opera de Paris, and suggested that the cake reminded her of the stage of Paris Opera. Now I wish I was in Paris right now to eat un Opéra in her honor!
