Gluten free and dairy free cake!

My poor non French people, Sorry I've been away for so long. I was very busy trying to understand how Snapchat works and if life has a meaning without instagram (turns out, not bad at all! You should check it out!) Anyway, I made this cake today and brought it to the office I share with two beautiful and wonderful and very Los Angeles ladies, who of course have special diets (because, oui, it's LA, mon ami!). Well, as French and perfect ...

How to have a French Easter

Do you want to be French and perfect and have a French and perfect Easter? Well, judging from my family, I guess you just need to start the day by eating 3 tons of chocolate bunny or chocolate bells or chocolate fish or chocolate hens. At home. the most difficult thing for me and my brother was trying to actually hide the chocolate after we had found it because my dad would try and eat them. There was a whole hide and seek ...

Pack a Paques Lunch for Easter! PATE DE PAQUES

My poor non-French people, Let me confess a little thing, just between you and me, entre nous. I'm not French and perfect. Ok, I'm French, and most of the time, as most of us do, I just wish I was perfect. But I'm trying! And you know, as I've learned here in the US, "Fake it until you make it", so let's pretend I actually have absolutely no defect, a rocking body and a wonderful, easy nature. Ho, and also, that my photos ...

Be French and perfect: drink APERITIF!

My poor non-French people, If you don’t speak French and are planning to travel to la Belle France, there are a few sentences you need to master in order to really get into the French spirit. Of course I’m sure you know all about « Je t’aime » or « Deux croissants s’il vous plait », and even some more olé olé sentences like the chorus of this famous disco song some American tourists never fail to sing when they meet a French native – excuse ...

Bake basque and feel better! Gâteau basque

My poor non French people, Are you one of these strange persons who always fantasize about going back to their childhood, "back to the future" way? I thought I wasn't. I'm actually living with someone who is part of this weird crowd, obsessed by buying toys you had when you were a kid, or the smell of a perfume that's "exactly as this particular glue I used at kindergarten". I don't consider myself nostalgic of the past, I will never say ...

Save the mimolette! The video!

My poor non French people, I'm very happy to share with you the new French and parfait video! It's been one year since I started the mimolette fight, and I wanted to celebrate it with a French and perfect video! It's also a good way to see how to make the croque monsieur recipe! Bon appétit les amis!

Be sweet ! Make a savoury pumpkin pie !

My dear, poor, non-French people, The more I live in the US, the more I’m amazed by how different and at the same time similar our cultures and minds are. Take pumpkins for example. Simple, round, orange vegetables. You guys turn them into horror masks... While we (among which French and perfect author Charles Perrault) imagined they could turn into a wonderful carosse that could also turn a poor damzel in distress into a glamourous princess… But we have this thing (among lots of others) in ...

Clap your hands for Clafoutis!

My dear, poor, non-French people, Here is a chance for you all to learn some of my beautiful native language. Want to say Summer in French? It’s very easy. Repeat after me. Cla-fou-tis. Ok, Clafoutis  does not exactly mean summer, (actually, in ancient French in means nailed!) but for most of my French and perfect friends, it's a synonym. Just hearing the word instantly takes me a few years ago, to the garden of my childhood home, back there in Loir-et-Cher. Summer is on, my brother ...

When life gives you lemon, make Citrons confits!

My poor non-French people, Please, stop thinking that time is never on your side... Yes, aging can make you better! At least when you're a lemon. C'est déjà ça! (At least that's something!) Let me share with you how to make one of the ingredient I use the most in my everyday cooking. Citrons confits are not a franco-french speciality in themselves, as they are mostly used in North African cuisine, but they're also part of many mediterranean recipes, and are great to ...

Jean-François Piège loves mimolette!

French and perfect Jean-François Piège is the young chef everybody talks about. When he opened his flagship restaurant, Thoumieux, in Paris two years ago, he won two Michelin stars right away... I was honored to meet him and interview him at Le Grand Fooding Crush Paris-LA, and he was kind enough to support the mimolette fight, AND give us an idea as to how to use it in a dish. Hope you'll like it! Merci!   (and remember... Save the mimolette!)
