Pack a Paques Lunch for Easter! PATE DE PAQUES

My poor non-French people, Let me confess a little thing, just between you and me, entre nous. I'm not French and perfect. Ok, I'm French, and most of the time, as most of us do, I just wish I was perfect. But I'm trying! And you know, as I've learned here in the US, "Fake it until you make it", so let's pretend I actually have absolutely no defect, a rocking body and a wonderful, easy nature. Ho, and also, that my photos ...

Don’t be a dinde! Cook a turkey leftover pie!

My poor non French people, I might be a little turkey, une petite dinde (or as you might say, a silly goose), with a pois chiche (garbanzo) in the head, but I always feel sad after Thanksgiving. First, because I'm always kind of disappointed by the party in itself: judging by all the movies and TV series I had seen back in France, I thought that compulsorily, there was a moment when people would get very angry and throw insults, family secrets ...

French super star Jamel for the mimolette!

My poor, non-French people, You might have read that I've been very busy lately trying to save my dear French mimolette. Well it's my pleasure to tell you now that the French and perfect comedian Jamel Debbouze has joined our fight! I interviewed him last week while on his tour in the US (this was for my "real" job, as a journalist for TV5monde), and he showed well how good in english we French and perfect people are.....   I was so glad to meet ...

Got milk? Roast a pig!

My poor non-French people, Here's another thing I really want to share with you: French food is not expensive. It can be, of course, with the freshest, rarest ingredients and crazy subtilities that our best chefs can add... But it can also be simple, cheap and wonderful. Rôti de porc is one of these French and perfect and not expensive dishes. Pork is always pretty cheap, and as the French saying goes "tout est bon dans le cochon": everything is good in a ...

Convert to 180°C!

My poor, non French people, Here is a little promotion for 180°C, a French and perfect cooking magazine that has just been published. It's actually much more than a magazine: 188 pages, almost a book, with lots of recipes, stories, interviews, all about good food and good times. (and no ads inside, which means they are really free to write about everything...) I can't wait to try their "pasteis de nata"  recipe, my favorite portuguese dessert! Also, my humble French and perfect self writes here ...

My must-eat mustard : MOUTARDE!

My dear, poor, non-French people Please stop thinking that the yellow sauce that dares to call itself "French's" is by any mean coming from my beloved country. Oh que non! My grand-father Robert, who loved mustard so much that he used it for cataplasm during the war, would have said that "the mustard comes to his nose" just thinking of it (la moutarde lui monte au nez, meaning getting very mad). La vraie moutarde de Dijon is... from Dijon. And it has no sugar involved. ...

Chaud Cacao! Or the French and perfect Chocolate cake

My dear, poor, non-French people, What does a girl need to be really French and Perfect? A pair of Louboutin? A glass of Demoiselle Champagne? The last Vanessa Bruno it-bag? Non non non les amis! Pas seulement!   What she needs is also a recipe for an easy, festive and délicieux chocolate cake.    Un gâteau au chocolat, oui madame!   The one you can decide to bake from scratch at the last minute to celebrate a sister’s birthday, impress a mother in law, ...

Be a good poire! Teach your pears how to swim in wine!

My dear, poor, non-French people, Let me be a good pear today, or "Une bonne poire": this is how my French friends call someone who’s always helping everybody, even if people are taking advantage of it.  It’s nice, at least it’s much better than being “une vraie dinde”, “a real turkey”, which is how we call people who are stupid and brainfree, I would say… Anyway, after all your stomach has suffered last Thanksgiving, I’m sure you’ll love this delicious and ...

Be Chic! Cook Grilled Chicon!

My dear, poor, non-French people, Let me tell you one thing. "La vie, c'est de la m...", as my grande amie Maha always says. Life is a bitch. You never get exactly what you wish for, and alway miss what you don't have. Take me for example. I live in California, where the weather is 600 times better now than the rainy foggy Paris in November.  And what do I dream of ? Cobb Salad on Malibu Beach ? Pas de chemin Joseph (I guess that's ...
